Helpful Resource: Dr. Ed & Amy Uszynski

Ed Uszynski (PhD, Bowling Green State University) has been working with collegiate and professional athletes in various roles with Athletes in Action since 1992. Currently he serves as the Director of Content Strategy, primarily seeking to develop The Assist, a new website initiative at athletesinaction.org.

Ed co-hosts a weekly podcast called Under Review, a show dedicated to an examination of ethical, social, and theological issues arising weekly from sport culture. He served for 8 years as a teaching pastor at their local church before recently stepping away from those responsibilities, and speaks nationally to college students, churches, and men’s groups on biblical Christianity.

His writing includes contributions to DesiringGod and other online publications, and a chapter in the four-volume C.S. Lewis: Life, Works, and Legacy (Bruce Edwards, ed.). His dissertation examined the implicitly religious nature of sports fandom through a bar-room ethnography of Cleveland sport fans.

Amy serves on the National Women’s Leadership Team within AIA and regularly leads young women in various settings. She is a retreat speaker, small group study leader, mentor, and spinning instructor. She speaks with Ed several times a year at the Weekend to Remember Conference with Family Life Ministry.

They have four children ranging in age from 5 to 15 years old.
